The Batmobile, regardless of its actors, stands as an undisputed icon. Our previous reports have covered various Batmobiles, whether authentic or recreations, that have hit the market. Recently, the AutoHunter Cinema team had the extraordinary opportunity to get up close and personal with one such legendary vehicle. Jeff Sutton had the privilege of examining the world’s sole turbine-powered 1989 Batmobile recreation, inspired by the iconic 1989 film. This remarkable Batmobile is the brainchild of Casey Putsch, a prominent figure on YouTube and Genius Garage, who undertook the challenge of mastering turbine technology exclusively for this project.
Under its sleek hood lies a Boeing T50 Turboshaft engine, churning out an impressive 365 horsepower when fueled by jet fuel. Paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, this engineering marvel boasts an estimated 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds and a jaw-dropping top speed of 185 mph, all while maintaining a relatively light weight of 2800 pounds. The Batmobile’s exterior sports a meticulously crafted fiberglass body mounted on a custom chassis, and its interior is a work of art, featuring bespoke elements and even an iPad to manage its sophisticated electronics. This exceptional vehicle found its new owner at the 2023 Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Auction, fetching a price of $220,000.
